Nintendo: Partners Up To Help Sick Children

Most people view video games as a daily competitive or fun activity that is all about winning and being the best.  Sometimes, and only sometimes, they are about making the world a better and more joyful place.  One gaming company who is helping do this is Nintendo, who has recently partnered up with Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation.

Nintendo has placed Wii systems into hospitals across both the US and Canada to help lift the spirits of seriously ill kids. Nintendo plans to manufacture 1,250 Wii fun centers and hopes to have 500 of them in hospitals by the end of 2008. The fun centers feature such games as Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports. Nintendo is not the only company to do this, last month Microsoft did a similar deed when they linked up with NHL’s Pat LaFontaine’s foundation and brought Xbox 360’s to children’s hospitals across the US.
