Saints Row 2 VS GTA IV
The problem with Saints Row 2 is that it is always going to be compared to GTA IV. It is obvious why a person would do this, since the Saints Row was basically a sad replica of the GTA series in many regards.
Saints Row 2 seems to be different, THQ seems to be taking Saints Row’s open world playing a whole different direction then Rockstar is taking GTA. Saints Row 2 is promised to be a very differentiated product in the open world genre. It is suppost to have “silly, over-the-top gameplay” and is going to be very “tongue-in-cheek.” GTA IV, on the other hand, went for deeper storylines and more realistic city life, a totally different aspect then Saints Row 2. Saint Rows 2’s promotions has already emphasized its focus on mindless fun and silliness. I think if Saints Row 2 is able to pull off comical stupidity and have over the top gameplay it will be able to hold its ground on GTA IV. I have very high hopes.
